7 Cool Vivo V7/V7 Plus Camera Tips and Tricks for You to Master the Selfie Game
Vivo has been in the Indian market for about 2 years now and, in this short period, it has captivated its audience with selfie-centric phones. Another phone to join the family is the Vivo V7, which promises a ‘clearer selfie’. Launched in November 2017, the Vivo V7 camera boasts a Portrait mode for selfies, an HDR mode, a Face Beauty mode for video calls, and other camera features. I’ve been using this phone for about a week now and, in the process, I’ve discovered some cool camera tips and tricks that would help you capture stunning photos. Let’s see how they work.
1. Portrait Selfie + Beauty Effects
Just having Portrait mode or a bokeh effect in your photo is mainstream. The front camera of the Vivo V7 takes great selfies and sports an awesome Portrait mode. This mode makes you the center of photos with the background softly blurring. To give these selfies with bokeh mode a twist, the Vivo V7 lets you combine both features.
Tap on Portrait mode, select the Face Beauty mode. Adjust the settings and click blemish-free selfies in Portrait mode.
2. Live Photos: Capture the Moment Before the Shot
Ever since Apple introduced Live Photos on the iPhone 6 and 6S Plus, other phone manufacturers like Samsung, Google, and Vivo have also adopted this feature.
The Live Photo feature in V7 allows you to capture a few moments before and after a photo is taken, giving you a glimpse of the fun moments. Simply tap the Live icon in the camera app to activate this feature. These photos are stored in Gallery with a Live Photos tag. By clicking on the picture, you can view a short clip surrounding the shot. Live Photos can be saved and shared as normal photos or video files.
The volume rockers and the fingerprint sensor double as shutter buttons. But come on, it’s 2017 and voice control integration isn’t rocket science anymore.
Thankfully, the Vivo V7 offers voice control. However, unlike the Samsung Galaxy A5/A7 or Galaxy J7 Max, this phone doesn’t provide options like “Smile, Capture” or “Shoot.”
This feature allows you to capture a moment by saying “Cheese.” To access it, tap the Settings cog in the top right corner and select the third option.
Additionally, you can control the V7 camera with a palm gesture.
4. Shaky Hands? Use the Level in Pro Mode
If I had a dollar for every tilted photo, I’d be a millionaire. Jokes aside, nobody wants a poor shot.
The pro mode requires significant time and effort to capture a perfect photo. Luckily, it includes a leveler. Simply tap the icon in the upper-left corner to activate it and receive a warning if the photo is tilted left or right.
5. Wide Selfie
If you’re a part of a large group, you’d know about the struggles of fitting every member in a group selfie. The Vivo V7 has a smart trick up its sleeves.
Going by the name “Group Selfie,” this feature captures a wider vista, letting you cram more friends into the group photo. All you need to do is swipe left on the selfie camera interface and hit the shutter button. Once done, move the camera slowly towards the left and right, and you’ll have a brilliant wide selfie.
Another trick is locking the exposure and focus on the V5 for consistent lighting during video recording.
The evenly-distributed exposure enhances the professional look of your images.
To enable this feature, long press on the screen where you want to focus until you see the confirmation prompt. While you’re at it, adjust the brightness.
7. Mirrored Selfie
The Mirrored Selfie feature is the last tip on our list. It is personally one of my favorite features of the V7 camera. If you like to get a photo as you see it in the viewfinder, the Mirrored selfie feature is your answer.
As you may know, a selfie is always mirrored and the end result is usually great. If you want the photo to be captured exactly as you see it in the viewfinder, the Mirrored selfie feature is your answer. Tap on the Settings cog and enable the mode from the options. From now on, all selfies will be captured from the V7 as you see it in the viewfinder.
Picture Perfect, Already?
These are some savvy ways to master your photographic skills on the Vivo V7.
Furthermore, the V7 also has a watermark feature that you can use to add a stamp to your pictures if you’re proud of them.
