Top 5 Enpass Alternatives for iOS and Android
Enpass password manager is gaining popularity in the password management space. The app is available on all platforms and lets users store data on any cloud provider.
Enpass used to offer a one-time payment for each operating system. Now, they have introduced a subscription option where you pay monthly and have access to the app on all platforms. This change has caused some users to seek out alternative apps for Enpass on iOS and Android. However, it’s worth noting that Enpass has handled the transition better than other companies by offering lifetime subscriptions to those who have already purchased the app on at least one platform. Moving to a subscription model has resulted in Enpass losing a significant advantage over its competitors. In this post, I will discuss the top five Enpass alternatives for iOS and Android, including both paid and free options. Let’s get started.
1. LastPass
LastPass is well-known, being a password manager. Previously, I would always recommend LastPass to anyone looking for a password manager. However, the company has recently faced difficulties. Nevertheless, it remains one of the top choices available.
A key advantage of LastPass is that it offers free and unlimited synchronization across platforms. The premium version is only necessary if you want to share vaults, receive priority support, and have an added security layer. Most features are included in the free version.
The added functionalities include multiple vaults, security challenges to check password strength, and warn about repeated passwords. LastPass also supports a strong password generator and auto-fills login details on Android and iOS. In terms of OS support, LastPass is available on iOS, Android, Windows, and macOS, and supports popular browsers through extensions. The only drawback is that LastPass stores all the data on their server, making user data vulnerable to hacking attempts. There is no option to save the data on preferred cloud providers like Google Drive or OneDrive.
The major options are free, and for the Plus version, be ready to shell out $3/month.
2. SafeInCloud
SafeInCloud is similar to Enpass in terms of pricing and backup. Pay once on a platform and enjoy unlimited updates for life. You can sync the data using any cloud provider.
If you forget or lose the master password for SafeInCloud, there is no way to reset it since the service doesn’t have your credentials.
SafeInCloud supports tags to sort entries quickly. It can also generate strong passwords, autofill them on iOS and Android, and securely log in using the default browser.
SafeInCloud requires an interface update as it appears outdated compared to competitors. Unlike LastPass, most features require payment. Simply purchase the $10 Pro version and you’re ready to go.
3. iCloud Keychain
This iOS and Mac app is perfect for Apple users who prefer native solutions and don’t want to search for third-party options.
Here’s how it works. By default, login info added to Safari gets saved in iCloud Keychain, seamlessly auto-filling between iPhone and Mac. This experience is carried forward to macOS, where modern Macs support fingerprint authentication.
To access and add manual data, go to Settings > Passwords & Accounts > Website & App Passwords. Here, you won’t find fancy features like notes, app icons, or tags, but you will find a strong password generator and iCloud sync.
All the entries are associated with an Apple account, and you can’t access any data on Android or Windows.
4. Firefox Lockwise
Firefox introduced a password manager to store and manage confidential information. Unlike Chrome’s manager, it has mobile apps for easy access.
The process is straightforward. When you add a website login info in Firefox, the app adds the data entry in Lockwise manager. It is free and syncs with a Firefox account.
Firefox did a decent job with mobile apps. It won’t have all the features that Enpass or LastPass offer, but it does provide biometric authentication, autofill credentials, and integrated browser.
My biggest gripe with Firefox Lockwise is that it doesn’t allow editing entries on the mobile apps. You have to use the web version to make changes.
5. 1Password
1Password offers many features. You can create multiple vaults, add family members, generate OTPs, attach PDFs, has Apple Watch support, and is available on all platforms.
The company raised $200 Million to accelerate app development. The software is popular in the enterprise sector. Apple deployed it among its 123,000 employees.
1Password has the best user experience among rivals. In terms of security, you can use biometrics, built-in browser, create custom fields, and more.
The app costs $3 per month for personal use. You can choose a $5/month family plan, which allows you to share it with five members, reducing the cost to $1/month per user. It’s a bargain.
Time to Move on from Enpass
The list above covers most options available. You can choose any based on your needs and preference. iCloud Keychain is for Apple users, 1Password is good for family sharing, Firefox is a free option for Firefox browser users. LastPass is versatile and SafeInCloud offers flexible pricing and data storage.
