How to Disable or Delete and Re-Enable Your Twitter Account
Twitter is a unique social network that allows users to connect with interesting individuals and organizations. While services like Facebook and Google+ have similar features, Twitter stands out in its ability to facilitate immediate conversations with celebrities or business tycoons, granted they are on the platform. It provides a democratic environment for various interactions, but it may not appeal to everyone and therefore lacks the widespread popularity of Facebook.
Some users create Twitter accounts out of curiosity but do not regularly update them or find the time to engage. If you fall into this category and wish to remove your online presence from Twitter, you can easily deactivate your account.
Deactivating Twitter Account
Step 1: Log in to your Twitter account and select Settings from the user drop-down menu.
Step 2: Click on Settings and access your Twitter account settings page. Scroll down and click Deactivate my account.
Step 3: Twitter will confirm deactivation. Click Deactivate and enter your password to finish.
Deactivating the account will automatically log you out.
Re-Enable Twitter Account
After deactivating a Twitter account, there is a 30-day grace period before it is permanently deleted. If you don’t log in within those 30 days, Twitter will delete the account. However, if you log in during that time, Twitter will reactivate your account instantly. It may take some time for Twitter to gather all your account data, such as followers and favorite tweets.
Here’s how you can deactivate your Twitter account. Keep in mind that you have a maximum of 30 days to reactivate it, so think carefully before deactivating.
