How to Move Files Between Google Drive, OneDrive, and Dropbox Using MoveBot.io
Google Drive, OneDrive, and Dropbox are three popular cloud storage services. They allow you to easily backup your data. You can access your backups anytime. Additionally, you can access your data on your Android or iOS smartphones, as well as your PC or Mac. If you want to move files between platforms, you don’t have to transfer them one by one.
MoveBot.io is a useful tool that serves as a migration manager for cloud storage platforms like Google Drive, Dropbox, and OneDrive. You can schedule migration jobs to run in the background while using other apps on your computer. In addition to the mentioned cloud services, MoveBot also supports Microsoft Azure, Backblaze, Wasabi Cloud Storage, and Amazon Web Services. The best part is that you don’t need to download any extra software. Just schedule a job with internet access, and MoveBot.io will handle the rest, providing a safe and robust method for transferring files.
If you want to save time migrating data between cloud services that don’t require constant attention, MoveBot.io can help.
How to Move Files Using MoveBot
To get started, you need a valid account. After that, there are three main steps: create the Source, define the Destination, and configure the settings for the job.
Step 1: Click on Create Migration and select the source from the drop-down menu. It can be any cloud service depending on where you want to migrate your data from. I chose OneDrive.
Like other third-party tools, you’ll need to give permission for access to the cloud storage service.
Click on ‘Save and Configure Destination’ to move on to the next stage.
Step 2: The process is similar. Select a service from the menu, such as Google Drive.
After granting permissions, configure the settings. Click Save and Configure Settings.
Step 3: Name the job. Give it an easy-to-understand name, like “OneDrive to GoogleDrive.”
Schedule the job to run daily or as preferred.
If you don’t want to keep the page open, you can check the box for email notification. If the job is successful or has failed, you will be instantly notified to take the next steps.
After completing the above steps, click Save and Kickoff to start the job.
It’s worth mentioning that the file transfer will not be instantaneous. The tool will determine the storage amount of the source first, and the transfer will start once the calculation has completed.
The time taken to calculate is short, typically under 3-4 minutes. The duration may vary based on the amount of data being transferred.
How to Check the Job Overview
Once the file transfer completes, you can view the status in the Overview section. MoveBot shows the number of files moved and the amount of data transferred. Additionally, you can see the execution time. Importantly, the Overview also indicates the number of files that couldn’t be moved.
Please note that you cannot move locked or encrypted files or folders, such as the Vault of OneDrive. To check the status of previous jobs, click the three-dot menu next to the job name and select Overview.
Additional MoveBot Settings
The data has been moved and the files organized. Now what? MoveBot has a setting called Delta Enabled, which moves a file when it has been modified at the source.
Moving files manually or creating a new job is unnecessary when using MoveBot. To modify a previous job, go to MoveBot’s homepage, click on the three-dot menu, and select Settings. Once you’ve made the necessary changes, save them and start the job accordingly.
If you need to start an old job, simply click on the Play icon of any job and it will be taken care of.
