How To Install PSM Developer Unity App on PS Vita

If you own a PS Vita and are interested in hacking your console, you may have found our previous entries on the subject useful. However, previous progress has been limited to the PSP emulator that comes with all Vitas. This means that until now, homebrew has been restricted by the emulator’s power. Now, thanks to vulnerabilities in the PlayStation Mobile app, native homebrew and emulators are possible on the PS Vita, allowing for more powerful homebrew in the future.

Installing the original PSM app is no longer possible. However, the PSM for Unity app is compatible with future hacks. The installation of this app is tricky, but we’ve got you covered. Follow this tutorial to run the PSM Dev for Unity app on your Vita quickly.

What you will need:

– A PS Vita running OFW between 3.20 and 3.51 (OFWs 3.52 and later break this method).

– The installation files (download link)

– An email account (preferably Gmail) set up on your Vita’s Mail app.

– The Mozilla Thunderbird email application for Mac or Windows (set up this app with the same email or any other one).

– The qCMA application.

On Your Computer

Step 1: Extract the downloaded file. You should have the same files as shown below – the UNITY folder and test.eml file. Keep them easily accessible.

Step 2: Transfer the UNITY folder to the location on your computer where you store PSP save data backups. This should be inside the random numbered folder within the PSAVEDATA folder, as shown in the image below.

Learn how to back up your PS Vita easily with qCMA by following these steps:

Step 5: On your Vita, long-press the PS button and ensure that Wi-Fi is enabled.

Now, the tricky part: You need to trigger an update on any installed game or app on your Vita. There are two ways to do this.

Method 1

You can update your apps and games by opening their Live Area and tapping on the circular arrows icon. If an update is available, a yellow sphere icon with a downward arrow will appear.
