How to Disable Send to Your Devices in Google Chrome

Google Chrome’s ‘Send to Your Devices’ feature can sometimes misfire despite being incredibly useful. It sends links to any of your other devices in seconds and is handy if you use multiple devices regularly. However, it’s not for everyone. That’s why you can disable the Send to Your Devices in Chrome.

Perhaps you prefer bookmarking the webpages you want to visit on other devices. Or find the ‘Send’ icon on the address bar distracting. Or have a family member who keeps pestering you with tabs.

Whatever the reason, you can disable ‘Send to Your Devices’ quite easily. Let’s start with the desktop version of Chrome (Windows and macOS) and then move on to the Android and iOS versions.

Note: Repeat the process on each device to disable the ‘Send to Your Devices’ feature.

Disable Send to Your Devices on Desktop

Disabling the ‘Send to Your Devices’ feature in Chrome on Windows or macOS requires turning off the Open Tabs sync setting. This action removes the ‘Send’ icon from the address bar and disables the ‘Send to Your Devices’ option in the context menu. However, it also means that you won’t be able to see the active tabs on other devices through the History option in the Chrome menu. If this is not an issue for you, follow these steps to disable ‘Send to Your Devices’ in Chrome:

Step 1: Open the Chrome menu by clicking the three dots in the upper-right corner of the window, then select Settings.

Step 2: Click the Sync and Google Services option in the People section.

Step 3: Click Manage Sync.

Step 4: Turn off the switch for Open Tabs.

Note:

That should disable ‘Send to Your Devices.’ Do note that the device may still show up on other devices when initiating ‘Send to Your Devices,’ but any tabs that you send will not show up.

Disable Send to Your Devices on Android

Just like on the desktop, you must turn off the Open Tabs sync setting to disable ‘Send to Your Devices’ in Chrome on your Android smartphone. But turning off this setting will also prevent you from seeing open tabs on your other devices when you tap Recent Tabs on the Chrome menu.

Step 1: Open the Chrome menu (tap the three-dot icon on the upper-right corner of the screen), then tap Settings. On the Settings screen, tap Sync and Google Services.

Step 2: Tap Manage Sync. In the list of sync settings, uncheck Open Tabs.

Note: Launch Chrome again to remove the ‘Send to Your Devices’ option when sharing webpages. Webpages sent from other devices will not appear.

Disable Send to Your Devices on iOS

On Chrome for iOS, disabling the Open Tabs sync setting will disable the ‘Send to Your Devices’ option on the Chrome Share Sheet and prevent links sent from other devices from showing up. This will also prevent you from seeing active tabs on your other devices when you visit the Recent Tabs section on the Chrome tab switcher.

Step 1: Open the Chrome menu (tap the three-dot icon in the upper-right corner of the iPad or the lower-right corner on the iPhone) and select Settings.

Step 2: Tap the Sync and Google Services option

Step 3: Tap Manage Sync.

Step 4: Turn off the switch for Open Tabs.

Note: Tap Done to disable ‘Send to Your Devices’ in Chrome for iOS.

No Deliveries Accepted

If you don’t use ‘Send to Your Devices’ in Chrome, disabling the feature won’t hurt. But remember, doing so will also hide your active tabs on other devices.
