How to Create a Photo Slideshow on Amazon Echo Show
The Amazon Echo Show is a powerful smart assistant that not only has a big screen and great speakers but also allows you to watch your favorite shows on Amazon Prime and YouTube. Additionally, it has a default browser for quick searches.
However, those are active scenarios. What about passive scenarios when you are not using the Echo Show?
By default, the Echo Show displays a slideshow of illustrations showing its skills and features. This slideshow can become boring over time. Luckily, this assistant allows you to use its smart display to show your photo collection in a slideshow. It’s like a modern digital photo frame.
That’s one of the best use-case scenarios of the Amazon Echo Show when not in use. Let’s begin.
Create a Photo Slideshow on Amazon Echo Show
Depending on your region, Amazon offers two options: Facebook photos or Amazon Prime photos. You will need both your phone and the Echo Show to accomplish this.
Now, let’s see how to get it done.
Method 1: Via Facebook Photos
If your region doesn’t support Amazon Prime photos, the Facebook plugin will be your best option.
Step 1: Create a Facebook Album by tapping on the Photos tab in the Facebook Android app and sliding left until you see Albums. Tap on Create Album, give it a new name and description, and optionally add a collaborator.
Step 2: Check the privacy option of the Facebook album. It should be set to Public or Friends for the album to show up. Add the photos to the album and press done.
Step 3: Open the Amazon Echo app, go to Settings, and tap on Photos.
Link your Facebook account by tapping on the “Link Account” option and logging in.
To proceed, open the Amazon Echo Show and access the Settings menu by swiping down on the home screen. Then, select the Settings button.
Head to Home Screen > Background and tap Facebook.
To open connected Facebook albums, select one or more and tap the Back icon.
Slide down on Settings, tap on the Home icon. After a certain time, album photos will rotate on the home screen when the Echo Show is idle.
Alternatively, say “Alexa, show me my photo albums.” That will display all your public photo albums. Just tap one.
Note: When you are bored of a particular album, easily create a new one and have it displayed, while deleting the older one.
Method 2: Via Prime Photos
If you use Prime Photos as your regular backup service, or can’t see the Facebook option on the Display screen, your Echo may have the Prime Photos plugin. Fortunately, the steps are almost the same, and you can have the photo slideshow quickly.
Step 1: On your phone, open Prime Photos (or Amazon Photos) and tap the three-dot icon on the upper-right corner.
Create an album and name it. Then select the photos and create a new album.
Now go to Settings > Display > Background on your Echo Show and select Prime Photos.
Choose the newly created album, tap the Home icon, and you’ll have a digital frame.
Alternatively, ask Alexa to show you your albums.
Bonus Trick: How to Setup Background on the Amazon Echo Show
If you’re not a fan of slideshows, you can opt for the background option on the Echo Show. This feature lets you set a single photo as your Echo Show’s background, and it’s easy to set up.
Here’s how:
1. Open the Amazon Echo app on your phone.
2. Tap on Devices to access the feature.
Tap on Echo & Alexa and select the Echo Show.
Step 2: Scroll down and choose Home Screen Background. Now, select a photo from your phone’s gallery.
Pinch to zoom on the image or crop it as you like. Then, tap Upload.
Step 3: It may take some time to upload. Once it’s done, you can see the new background on your Echo Show.
How to Setup Minimal Home Screen Backgrounds
The Echo Show offers an additional Home Screen theme option, aside from the standard illustrations. This is useful for times when you prefer no photos or illustrations on the device.
To achieve this, go to Settings > Display > Theme, and choose Minimal. This will give the screen muted shades.
Get the Show Running!
