How to Control Music & Calls on Android Without Even Touching It

Listening to music is a wonderful experience. However, factory-made earphones are below standards in terms of sound quality and comfort. To solve this problem, I bought a Sony headphone for traveling. Unfortunately, it didn’t have a music control button, so I had to unlock my phone every time I wanted to skip a track. Some apps allow you to change the song by shaking your phone, but this can be unreliable, especially on bumpy roads.

I have always wondered if I could control the music on my Android through gestures in the air, like with Microsoft Kinect (and going by Kinect’s sales records, it surely is becoming a popular way to interact with gadgets).Wave Control is a nifty app for Android that allows you to control your phone’s music playback with a wave of your hand, or even your thumb.

Wave Control for Android

Wave Control utilizes your phone’s proximity sensor to play/pause and skip tracks without unlocking the device. Upon installation and launch of the app, your default music player will begin playing. Initially, the app controls are disabled and must be manually enabled by tapping on the Wave Control heading.

That’s it, now you can wave your hands over the sensor to control the music. To play/pause a track, just hover your hand over the sensor. A single wave will skip the track while a double wave will play the previous one.

Note: You can also control incoming calls using gestures with the app if you have a headset plugged in. When you receive a call, a single wave will silence your phone while a double wave will accept or reject the call.

I have been using the app for quite some time now and I must say it does what it promises, without any glitches. It recognizes gestures without fail and completes actions accordingly. That’s what it did when I used it. Why don’t you try it out too and tell us how well it worked?
