How to Change Individual App Text Size on iPhone
The iPhone offers various accessibility features, including support for hearing aids, speech to text, and more. With iOS 15, the back tap feature was introduced. One particularly interesting feature is the ability to change text size or font size for a specific app.
You can adjust the text size on an iPhone, but this setting applies to the text system-wide. This means that every text will be either too large or too small, depending on your choice. However, with the latest iOS 15 update, you now have the ability to set a different text size for each individual app. Here’s how you can do it.
What Is Individual App Text Size on iPhone
The Settings app allows you to change the Text Size, but it applies to every app on iOS. There is no option to set a custom text size for each individual app.
With individual text size, you can have smaller text in social media apps and larger fonts for your email app to make important things easier to read.
The option is available for iPhone with iOS 15 or later to adjust text size for apps. All iPhone devices after the iPhone 6S support this feature. Here’s how you can enable it.
Step 1: Open the Settings app on your iPhone and select the Control Centre option.
Step 2: Below is a list of toggles you have added to the control center. Scroll down to the bottom and find Text Size. Tap the green ‘+’ icon next to it.
Step 3: This adds the Text Size toggle to the control center. Pull down from the top-right edge of your iPhone to check if the toggle appears in the Control Center. On an iPhone with a home button, swipe up from the bottom to access the control center.
Note that instead of the ‘+’ icon you see a red ‘-‘ icon next to Text Size, it indicates that the Text Size toggle is already present in the control center. In such a case, you don’t have to change anything in this menu.
Step 4: Once you have added the toggle, open the app where you want to change the text size. For example, let’s take Settings as a scenario.
Step 5: Open the control center on your iPhone and tap the Text Size toggle.
Step 6: A new page will open with a slider to adjust the text size. You can drag the slider to any value you want to increase or decrease the text size.
Swiping up increases the text size to 310% and swiping down reduces it to 80%. The words ‘Text Size’ at the top of the screen and the percentage value below indicate the current text size for reference. Step 7: Set your desired text size, then drag the horizontal slider at the bottom to ‘Settings Only’. The app’s name may vary depending on which app you use. If you want to apply the same text size to all apps, select ‘All Apps’.
Step 8: Go back to the app and notice the text size has changed as desired.
Step 9: If the new text size is not suitable, you can adjust it in the control center.
Now you have successfully changed the text size on an individual app on your iPhone. Repeat this process for all the necessary apps.
Feel free to experiment with different font sizes on apps. Smaller fonts on a vertically scrolling feed allow you to view more content. A larger size helps make the content easily readable, especially for seniors.
