How to Change Background Color in Paint 3D
Every person has color preferences. Often, we encounter images with undesired background colors that we want to change. However, the thought of using complex tools like Photoshop can be discouraging.
Fortunately, the process is not as difficult as it seems, and you don’t need Photoshop. If you have Windows 10 (Creators update), you can use the built-in Paint 3D app, an upgraded version of MS Paint, to change the background or background color of any image.
To accomplish this, follow these steps: 1. Cut out the area with the background color you want to change. 2. Change the background color. 3. Save the image.
Now, let’s see the detailed steps:
1. Select Image
Step 1: Launch Paint 3D on your PC and click the Menu icon at the top.
Step 2: Open the menu and select Browse files.
Step 3: Open the image you want to change the background color of. For example, if I have an image of the Android logo with a green background, I can change the color to yellow.
Step 4: Now begins the action. Click on Magic select in the top bar.
Step 5: A selection box will appear. Drag the sides of the box to enclose the portion of the image you want to change. Then click Next.
Step 6: Paint 3D usually detects and highlights the object automatically. However, if the entire object isn’t selected or there are extra areas, use the Add or Remove option to adjust the selection.
To select an option, mark the chosen or unchosen area. When happy with your selection, press Done.
Please note that the provided text is already quite concise and does not contain many redundant words or phrases. I have made a few revisions to improve readability and clarity, while maintaining the original meaning:
“You will see that the selected part of the image is now a separate image. You can move, rotate, and perform other actions on it without the background.”
2. Change Background
Next, we need to change the background. There are three ways to achieve that. Let’s check them out one by one.
Method 1: Using Stickers
Step 1: Once you have the cut-out image, click Make sticker on the right side to turn the selected object into a sticker.
Step 2: Click on the Menu icon at the top and select New. You will be prompted to save the image, choose Don’t save. Then, a blank canvas with a white background will open.
Click on the Stickers button and select the third icon in the right panel.
To find your cut-out image, click on it and add it to the white background.
Adjust the size of the image using the box around it and select the Fill tool by clicking on the Brushes button.
Step 5: Use the Fill tool, choose a color from the sidebar, and click on the white background to change its color. Test different colors by clicking on them. Save the image as shown below.

The Importance of Editorial Refinement and Language Efficiency
When it comes to refining and improving written content, it is crucial to prioritize efficiency and clarity. Understanding the significance of making your writing concise and impactful is essential. By eliminating redundant words and phrases, you can enhance readability, maintain the original meaning, and engage your readers effectively.
Choosing the right words and sentences, and using them effectively, is key. However, it’s important to avoid repetition or the unnecessary use of adjectives that do not contribute to the overall meaning. Additionally, interpreting and analyzing the content can provide you with valuable insights on how to eliminate redundant expressions while still delivering the intended message.
In today’s fast-paced world, where attention spans are shorter, it’s crucial to remember that less is often more. It is important to consider the fact that efficient writing not only saves time but also allows readers to understand and engage with the content more easily. By following these guidelines, you can refine your writing, making it concise, impactful, and memorable.
Method 2: Copy Paste Method
I will use a different image. First, select and cut the image using the Magic Select tool.
Once you have the cut-out ready, follow these steps:
Step 1: Right-click on the cut-out and choose Copy. Alternatively, press CTRL+C to copy it.
Step 2: Click on the Menu icon, select New, and don’t save when asked about saving the image.
Step 3: Greeted by a blank white canvas. Right-click on the white area and choose Paste from the menu. Alternatively, use the shortcut CTRL+V to paste the cut-out image. Adjust size and position if necessary.
Step 4: Click on the Brushes button and choose Fill.
Note: Step 5: Choose a color from the palette on the right and click on the white area to fill it. Then, save the image.
Use a Different Background
In the above two methods, we changed the background color. You can replace the background with a different one instead of a solid color.
To do this, follow these steps:
1. Prepare your cut-out image.
2. Instead of selecting “New,” select “Open” from the Menu.
3. Open the background image you want to use.
4. Paste the cut-out image onto the new background.
That’s it! Your cut-out will now appear on the new background.
Method 3: Delete Background Layer
Step 1: Use the Magic Select tool to cut-out the image.
Step 2: Once the cut-out is generated, drag it outside of the background.
Step 3: Click on the Select option and choose the entire background.
Step 4: Click the delete icon in the right sidebar or press the Delete key to remove items.
When you do so, your background will turn white. Now move the cut-out image onto the background
Click on the Brushes button and choose the Fill tool. The Fill type should be Colors (Default).
Step 6: Select a color and fill the background by clicking on it.
3. Save Image With New Background
To save your final image, select Save as from the Menu icon. Choose Image and save it.
