Filmora Go vs KineMaster: The Best Video Editor for Android
Many people now use smartphones for video content creation. You can record high-quality footage, either in 4K with a flagship device or in 1080p at 60fps with a mid-range phone. Then, you can edit the footage instantly using one of the numerous video editing apps on the Play Store.
Not every app is equal. Only a few video editing apps are excellent, including Filmora Go and KineMaster. They offer many useful features for video editors, allowing you to edit videos on-the-go. Which of these apps is best for your workflow? That’s what we’ll find out.
Filmora Go vs. KineMaster
To begin, let’s discuss the capabilities of a phone video editor. KineMaster stands out as a powerful option, offering all the features of a full software. It allows for high-quality video editing, with multiple layers and assets. Conversely, Filmora Go is a more basic app, designed for beginners who require simple edits.
App Size
Both apps occupy a significant amount of space on your phone. Filmora Go takes up 75-80MB, while KineMaster requires over 135MB.
Filmora Go has a minimal user interface that allows for easy video editing on the go.
The app allows you to edit and share videos in three steps. Just choose a video, pick a theme, add music, filters, and transitions, and share. All the controls are on the left, and you have a real-time view of your edits in the center.
KineMaster has a complex user interface with tools in the right toolbar, a live preview in the center, and a timeline with layer support below. Additional tools are found in the left toolbar. Filmora Go is a more user-friendly alternative, but it lacks features compared to KineMaster, making it more suitable for semi-pro users.
Features
Speaking of features, let’s discuss what you can do with these two apps. Both apps do a good job of editing videos, but they have limitations, with Filmora Go having more limitations than the other. The app’s interface and available features are both minimal.
Filmora Go offers the tools to trim your video, add a theme, insert music, transitions, and adjust the aspect ratio. You can also include subtitles, a voice-over, filters, overlays, and other elements before exporting.
You can adjust the playback speed and make basic lighting adjustments in the video. After finishing, render your project by tapping the save button and choose to save the video on your phone or publish it to an integrated platform.
KineMaster offers more features to help you take your edits to the next level. You can add layers to your video, including videos from your phone or videos from the app.
The app lets you customize the audio by tapping on the Audio button or add a voice-over to your video by tapping on the Voice button. You can also add other assets, like animations, effects, filters, etc. directly from the KineMaster Asset Store. After editing the video, you can choose the export resolution and bitrate, which is a feature not available with Filmora Go. The app allows you to export videos up to 4K resolution at 30 fps, which is ideal for smartphones that can capture 4K footage.
Filmora Go is easier to use because of its minimal interface and limited features.
KineMaster may take some getting used to, but if you’ve worked with full-fledged video editing software before, you’ll feel at home with it.
Once you understand it, you may find Filmora Go limiting. Although it’s easy for beginners, KineMaster is also simple to learn. This statement comes from someone with limited experience using video editing software.
Now all of the features mentioned above are available for free with both video players. However, the free version of the apps often adds watermarks or outro animations to your edited video.
You can remove them by purchasing the premium version of the apps and you’ll also gain access to a couple of paid features that aren’t otherwise available. Both apps have a built-in asset store where you can buy additional effects, transitions, animations, and more.
Filmora Go vs. KineMaster: Which One Should You Choose
Both apps are capable, with KineMaster offering slightly more. If you’re a beginner, try Filmora Go. It’s easy to use and you’ll create amazing videos quickly. On the other hand, if you’re an experienced editor and want more control, check out KineMaster. It has a familiar interface and essential features missing in Filmora Go.
