Inserting pictures into documents is easy. But extracting those images and saving them on the hard drive can be difficult. Extracting text from documents with images is not difficult and there are many OCR tools available to help. However, extracting images from documents is not straightforward. Copying each image to the clipboard and saving them using image editors is a manual process. But there is a way to bypass this manual drudgery.

Using Office Image Extraction Wizard

Depending on your requirements, you can download and install or get a portable version of the tool. When you launch the application, a “Welcome” window will appear. You can skip this and click “Next”. The next window will prompt you to select the source document and choose an output folder. If you want to create a new folder at the selected location, you can check “Create a folder here”. Click “Next” when you’re ready.

If you have multiple input files, navigate to the Batch Mode by checking the adjacent checkbox.

You can add or remove files from the list. You also have the option to choose a custom output folder or use the original location. After making your choices, click on “Next”. A confirmation window will appear. Click on “Start” and check “Skip this page in the future” to bypass this step next time.

Depending on the file size and number of images, the extraction process may take time. Once complete, you can close the window or open the destination folder.
