7 Cool Airdroid Features That Make it a Must-Have App
Android lacks a default desktop management app like iTunes for iOS. Considering what iTunes has become, this might be a good thing.
Android is open and free, offering multiple ways to sync files between PC and Android. You can even do it natively without any software. However, if you require more than just file transfer capabilities or if you have a wire phobia, AirDroid is the solution. Check out our how-to guide on AirDroid for more information.
AirDroid is a web-based device management app for Android. It enables wireless connection to any PC by scanning a QR code. Once connected, you can effortlessly transfer files, back them up, and perform various other tasks.
1. Look Ma, No Wires! AirDroid: Web Based And Wireless
I love AirDroid for its wireless functionality. While there are many competent desktop management suites for Android, some even surpassing AirDroid in terms of battery consumption, its wire-free approach sets it apart. Connecting AirDroid to a PC or Mac is also a breeze. In fact, you can effortlessly establish the connection each morning within seconds upon arriving at your desk.
Just open the web address AirDroid provides (www.web.airdroid.com) and scan the QR code to authenticate.
You can also create an account with AirDroid to control and transfer stuff from your phone, even when it’s not on the same Wi-Fi network as your computer. The free plan has a 100 MB per month transfer cap for cellular networks, which can be increased to 1 GB by upgrading to AirDroid Premium.
Now your desktop syncing solution is all set to go.
2. Send And Receive SMS From Your Computer
MightyText is a better standalone app for texting from the computer using your Android phone. However, AirDroid also provides this feature, so it’s worth using if you’re already connected to it.
3. Send Device Notifications To PC
When you start AirDroid on Android, enable Notification Mirroring. It allows AirDroid to deliver notifications from your Android device to your PC.
When we talk about “device management,” it includes using AirDroid to transfer and install APK files from your PC to your phone.
5. Transfer Files, Photos To And From PC Wirelessly
AirDroid presents your phone’s file management system in a desktop UI. You have quick access to folders like Files, Photos, Music, and more on the “desktop” of AirDroid.
You can find a Toolbox in the bottom right corner – simply drag the files from your PC’s file explorer to upload them to the device.
6. Paste Links And Text To Android’s Clipboard
In the Toolbox, you can find a Clipboard section. Simply write in the clipboard and click the Arrow button to copy the text to your device’s clipboard. Next, go to your device and paste the text.
Cool Tip: Copy something on your Android device and click the Refresh icon in the Toolbox to display the copied text.
7. Open Websites On Your Phone From AirDroid
To open a web page on your Android device, simply paste the URL in the Toolbox and click the arrow button. The page will open instantly in your phone’s browser, ready to go when you unlock your phone.
Bonus: Find Lost Phone (Premium)
If you’re an AirDroid Premium subscriber, you can track and remotely wipe a lost phone. This feature is also available for free through Android’s Device Manager app.
How To Make The Best Use Of AirDroid
AirDroid, originally a wireless device manager, has evolved into a multifunctional app. I recommend activating AirDroid on your phone whenever you’re at your desk, even though it may drain your battery and require you to keep a charger nearby. The app’s benefits outweigh this inconvenience. With AirDroid, you’ll receive notifications and can send/receive SMS, copy files, and share photos without touching your phone. It truly is an impressive convenience.
