7 Best OnePlus Nord Tips and Tricks That You Should Know
The OnePlus Nord has finally arrived, bringing back the tagline of ‘Flagship Killer’ by using quality mid-range processors and providing a smooth experience. However, a phone is more than just its processor and camera. The software also plays a vital role and depends on how you tweak your phone.
Since its launch, we spent time with OnePlus Nord and collected essential tips and tricks. If you want to get the best out of OnePlus Nord, here are the top tips and tricks you should know.

1. Quick Launch Shortcuts for Fingerprint
The OnePlus Nord offers a unique shortcut feature that lets you access app shortcuts directly from the fingerprint scanner. Simply tap and hold the scanner for a little longer than usual to unlock your phone and instantly access the shortcut menu. To enable this feature, go to Settings > Utilities > Quick Launch and toggle the switch.
Tap on the Shortcut Settings option to add the apps you want in the Quick Launch menu. If you often use Google Maps, this is a quick way to access it. Another benefit is the ability to add the Settings shortcut.
The downside to this feature is that you’ll have to keep Face Unlock disabled. However, the fingerprint unlock is fast enough.
2. Face Unlock
If you can’t part with the Face Unlock feature of your OnePlus phone, how about making it smarter? You may have noticed that the phone immediately opens to the home screen when unlocked.
Sometimes, this can be an issue. For example, if you only want to check your notifications but the screen unlocks halfway, you have to take additional steps.
Fortunately, there’s a solution. To change this, go to Security & lock screen > Face Unlock and disable the ‘Auto unlock once…’ option.
Your phone will now unlock as soon as it sees you, without immediately taking you to the home screen.
3. Ambient Clock Style
OnePlus Nord has introduced various clock styles to the ambient display. You can now have a mix of analog and digital clock faces on your lock screen. The combination of white and red looks chic. To enable a clock face, go to Customization > Clock Style and select a style.
To select the information you want on the lock screen, go to Display > Ambient Display and toggle on the desired options.
4. Switch Back to Power Menu
Annoyed when the Google Assistant pops up when you long-press the Power button? Simply summon it by swiping diagonally up on the home screen. If you want the traditional power menu back, follow these easy steps:
Go to Settings > Buttons and Gestures and select ‘Press and hold the power button.’ Choose Power Menu from the options. That’s it.
What benefits does it bring? If you use the phone with one hand, you can quickly take a screenshot with the screenshot option. Cool Tip: You can trigger Amazon Alexa using the Power button. To do this, install the Alexa app on your phone and use the same settings as above to select Alexa from the Assistant menu.
5. Enable Dark Mode in More Apps
The Dark Mode is a blessing for phones like the OnePlus Nord with AMOLED displays. It not only saves battery but also looks cool. To activate the mode, go to Quick Settings and enable it. However, did you know you can force this mode on certain apps? In OnePlus Laboratory, under Settings > Utilities, select ‘Enable dark tone in more apps’.

6. Hello 48-Megapixel Shooter
The OnePlus Nord allows you to shoot with both a 12-megapixel lens and a 48-megapixel lens. However, the camera defaults to the 12-megapixel mode. To switch to the 48-megapixel mode, go to Photo mode on the camera and select the 48-MP option. It’s that simple!
You can activate filters in 48-MP mode by tapping the Filter icon on the top-right corner of the screen and selecting one from the list.
7. Re-Arrange the Camera Modes
Do you use all camera modes? If not, you can remove some lesser-used modes from the camera interface to reach your favorite modes faster and achieve a cleaner look. To do this, open camera settings, tap the button at the top-right corner, and scroll down to find Custom Modes. Select it, then tap the Minus sign to remove modes. You can also rearrange modes by dragging them up or down.

Get the Most Out of Your OnePlus Nord
