6 Best Fixes for Spotify Songs Grayed Out
Spotify is a popular music and podcast platform. You can find playlists for any occasion. Connect your Spotify account to Google Home to enhance your guests’ mood at a party.
Sometimes, songs on Spotify get grayed out on the iPhone or Android app. This can also happen with songs you’ve previously listened to. Here are some solutions to fix Spotify songs grayed out on iPhone and Android.
1. Regional Restrictions
If you’re wondering why some songs are grayed out on Spotify, the main reason could be regional restrictions. Certain songs are subject to licensing restrictions and may not be available in all regions worldwide.
To address this issue, the best solution is to use a VPN (Virtual Private Network) on your iPhone or Android device. There are numerous VPN apps available for both platforms. If you have a Google One subscription, you can also utilize a VPN through your account.
2. Delete and Add Songs Again to Your Playlist
If the first solution did not work and you want to listen to grayed out or unavailable songs on Spotify, we suggest deleting and adding them to your playlist again. The steps remain the same for iPhone and Android app.
Step 1: Open Spotify on your iPhone or Android.
Step 2: Go to your Library, select your playlist.
Step 3: Tap the three dots next to the grayed-out song.
Step 4: Remove From Playlist.
Step 5: Search for the song again and tap the three dots next to its name.
Step 6: Select Add To Playlist.
Step 7: Select your playlist and tap Done at the bottom. Then, check if the problem is solved.
3. Check Explicit Content Settings
One reason why songs become unavailable on Spotify is including explicit language. You can choose not to see any songs or podcasts on Spotify that contain explicit language. But if Spotify songs are grayed out, allow explicit content and see if that solves the problem.
Step 1: Open Spotify on your iPhone or Android. The steps remain the same for both platforms.
Step 2: Tap Your Library at the bottom-right corner.
Step 3: Tap on Explicit Content.
Step 4: Tap the toggle next to Allow Explicit Content to enable this feature.
Step 5: Return to your library and check if the grayed out songs are available.
4. Force Quit and Relauch Spotify
If your chosen song is not on Spotify, simply force quit and relaunch the app for a fresh start.
Step 1: Swipe up and hold on the home screen to reveal the background app windows.
Step 2: Swipe right to find the Spotify app. Then swipe up to remove it.
Step 3: Relaunch Spotify and check if the problem is solved.
Long-press the Spotify app icon, tap App Info.
Step 2: Tap on Force Stop.
Step 3: Select Ok to confirm.
Step 4: Close App Info and reopen Spotify to check if the problem is fixed.
