5 Easy Ways to Screen Record on Windows With Audio
Screen recording is an efficient way to capture and share your screen, for purposes like education, content creation, or troubleshooting. This guide will show you how to screen record on Windows with audio. We’ll explain the steps for each method and discuss their limitations.
If you want to display something on your computer and need a still picture, Windows screenshots work. But if you’re explaining things and want to show the action, go for a screen recording. A picture can say a lot, but a video brings those words to life by showing exactly what’s happening. Let’s look at the methods.
1. Snipping Tool
The Snipping Tool is the native Windows 11 tool for capturing screens and recording video. The latest updates also enable audio recording alongside screen recording. Follow these steps to record audio using the Snipping Tool in Windows 11.
Step 1: Click the Start icon in the taskbar and search for the Snipping Tool. Open the tool.
Step 2: Click the video recording icon and press the New button.
Alternatively, press the Windows + Shift + R key to go directly to the Snipping Tool video recording tool.
Step 3: Use your mouse to choose the area you want to record. Click the microphone icon to enable it and press Start to begin recording.
Note: If you have an external microphone, select it from the dropdown menu to record voice.
Tip: If the mic icon is grayed out, go to the Settings app > Privacy & security > Microphone. Enable the microphone and make sure the button next to the Snipping Tool is toggled on.
Step 4: If you’ve enabled the mic from Settings, follow steps 1-4 again. Initiate recording by clicking the Start button.
You’ll see a 3-second countdown, and the screen recording will start.
Step 5: Once the recording is complete, press the Stop icon.
Step 6: Finally, watch and save the video by clicking the Save button.
