4 Chrome Add-ons to Enhance Google+ Experience
Google Plus (or Google +) drastically changed the social networking landscape. While Facebook remains the dominant player, Google+’s arrival has created a sense of unease for the current leader. Regardless, even Facebook enthusiasts can appreciate the positive impact of this rivalry, as it has prompted significant improvements to the social networking experience on Facebook to maintain its dominance.
For Google+ users who are committed to the platform, there are four excellent Chrome add-ons that can enhance your experience.
With numerous social networks to manage, there is a dire need for an extension that allows cross-posting. Extended Share for Google Plus (UPDATE: This tool is no longer available) adds a “Share on…” link to each post, enabling you to share updates on the social network of your choice. The extension supports Twitter, LinkedIn, Facebook, Tumblr, Identi, Posterous, Reddit, Ping.fm, Hyves, Digg, Blogger, Yahoo, StumbleUpon, Technorati, Netvibes, and AddThis. Simply click the “Share on” link and select the network to share updates with.
Replies and more for Google+
Replies and more for Google+ simplifies commenting by adding reply and reply-to-author buttons to Google+ comments. You can easily mention other contacts by typing their names, preceded by a ‘+’. Additional changes include:
– Ctrl+Enter and Shift+Enter to submit comments or posts
– ‘M’ key to hit a post
– Dropdown menu for easy sharing on Twitter and Facebook.
+Photo Zoom
+Photo Zoom is a convenient extension that allows for quick and easy zooming of photos in your Google+ Stream. Hovering over an image will automatically load the enlarged version.
Surplus
Surplus transforms Chrome into a Google Plus client, enabling you to access Google Plus directly from the extension. You can receive desktop notifications and share posts directly from the extension. Surplus offers different modes that allow you to customize its features. The extension’s icon also shows the notification count.
These four extensions offer enhancements that Google Plus does not provide by default. From convenient sharing to quick interaction with your friends, which extension do you prefer? Or do you have another one not on this list?
