10 Cool Samsung Galaxy J7 Pro Tips and Tricks
I’ve been using the Galaxy J7 Pro for the past month and it has been enjoyable. Though it doesn’t have the high-end features of the Galaxy S8 or isn’t as fast as it should be, the under-the-hood features make it worthwhile.
We have compiled a list of tips and tricks that can help you get the most out of your Samsung Galaxy J7 Pro.
1. Lock and Hide Sensitive Apps
The Galaxy J7 Pro has a built-in feature to lock and hide your apps and pictures. The Lock and mask apps feature locks your apps and hides them from the app drawer and search results.
To enable this feature, simply search for it in your settings and turn it on.
2. Simplify Your Work with One-Hand Mode
The Samsung Galaxy J7 Pro is not as wide as the J7 Max, but it can still be a bit difficult to operate with one hand. This is where the One-Handed mode comes in.
The best feature of this mode is that it draws the navigation buttons into the screen so that you don’t have to stretch your thumb to reach the Recents/Back button. If this is the first time you are using a Samsung phone, the one-handed mode can be enabled either through gestures or by pressing the home button thrice.
3. Save Juice Using Power Saving Mode
After using the Samsung Galaxy J7 Pro for a month, I can confidently say that it can last a full day without charging. However, if you find the phone low on battery and don’t have a charger or power bank nearby, the power-saving mode is very useful. The App Power Monitor puts unused apps to sleep.
It offers two built-in modes to save battery — Mid and Max. And both of these can be customized.
Also, if you want aggressive methods to save battery, the Advanced settings (under the three-dot menu) should serve the purpose. When enabled, the App Power Monitor puts unused apps to sleep.
4. Multi Task Seamlessly
If you have been following the tech scene recently, you must be aware of Android Oreo’s Picture-in-Picture (PIP) mode. Samsung has a scaled-down version of this feature on its Galaxy phones.
The feature called “Multi Window” can convert any screen into a floating window and allows you to freely move it. Simply enable it in the Advanced settings and swipe in from the top-right or top-left edge.

5. Boost Productivity Through Default Search
When it comes to boosting productivity, the default Samsung launcher isn’t the first choice.
Before brushing it off, try its search feature. Just draw up the app drawer and tap the search bar. From now on, whether it’s a conversation, image, or document, just tap the prompts and the recent ones will be pulled up.
6. See The Bigger Picture with Wide Selfies
The Samsung Galaxy J7 Pro allows you to include your whole group in selfies with the Wide selfies feature. It captures three frames in one.
All you need to do is turn on Wide selfie mode and gently swivel the camera in both directions in a straight line.
7. Take the Shorter Route with Keyboard Shortcuts
The Samsung keyboard allows you to shorten your text using word and phrase shortcuts. It functions similarly to Gboard and Swiftkey’s features.
This smart feature is located in the Text Shortcuts section. Simply enter the text and its corresponding shortcut. The keyboard will then display the full version in the prediction tray when you type the abbreviation.
8. Stay Alert … Smartly
Staying updated smartly is the latest fad. The J7 Max lets you know about missed notifications and calls through Smart Glow.
The J7 Pro doesn’t have the awesome feature, but it makes up for it with the Smart Alert. So, when you pick up your phone, it instantly vibrates to notify you of missed notifications.
9. Gesture for a Picture
The volume rockers can also be used as a shutter button for selfies. However, they can sometimes cause blurring due to the slight change in focus when the button is pressed.
Enabling gestures for the camera easily mitigates this problem. Just show your palm and the picture will be captured instantly (minus the palm, of course).
10. Bring on the Edge
Who said only high-end smartphones can have edge benefits? Even mid-tier and budget phones can define their own edge functionalities, thanks to third-party apps.
The app of the hour is Swiftly Switch – Sidebar App. It’s a new app that lets you customize the screen edge. Whether you need a shortcut or your contacts, everything will be right at your fingertips.
11. Hide Pictures and Other Media
Yeah, you can lock the Gallery app with a fingerprint or a PIN, but what about locking a specific file in the Gallery?
The solution is the Secure Folder. It creates an encrypted partition within the phone to store files and apps securely. Simply move a picture or song to the secure folder, and it will stay safe.
