5 Best Ways to Fix Xiaomi Mi Band Doesn’t Charge Issue
You have just purchased a new Mi Band and you’re excited to use it. However, you encounter an issue – the Band isn’t turning on. Upon further examination, you realize there is no button to turn it on. What should you do? Even after connecting the charger, the Band still doesn’t turn on. Is your Mi band faulty? The chances of that are very low. You simply need to fix the charging issue, as outlined in this post.
Sometimes, when you leave the Mi band unused for a month, it completely drains the battery. As a result, you may face charging issues with your Mi Band. In this case, the band won’t boot up easily or charge.
But don’t worry, your Mi Band isn’t dead. Whether you have the Mi Band 3 or 4, the steps mentioned in this post will help you resolve the charging problems and turn it on.
How Do I Know If Mi band Is Charging
Before troubleshooting, it’s important to understand how to check if the band is charging. If the Mi Band is powered on, you will see the charging symbol when it’s plugged in. Now let’s explore solutions for fixing the Mi Band not charging or charging issues.
1. Connect Properly
The main reason Mi Bands do not charge is their incorrect position on the charging cable. To fix this, ensure that the back aligns properly with the cable. If there is a space, the Mi Band will not charge. To avoid this, position the backside of the Mi Band towards you when inserting it into the cable. Push it firmly into the cable so that it connects properly with the connectors in your cable and Mi Band.
2. Keep It Connected for Some Time
If you have a new Mi Band that isn’t switching on or is completely discharged, leave it untouched for 10-30 minutes after proper plugging. The Mi Band is fully discharged, so even if you plug it, you will not see any charging symbol quickly. Letting it charge for some time replenishes the battery.
When this happens, the Mi Band black screen will vanish, and your band will switch on automatically. You will see the charging symbol. Then, charge it fully.
Tip: If after 30 minutes, the band doesn’t power on, remove it from charging. Wait for 10-20 seconds. Then plug it back in to charge it.
3. Clean Charging Pins
If your Mi Band doesn’t charge after trying the above solutions, clean the golden contact points on both your Mi Band and the charging cable. Wipe them with cotton, tissue, or cloth to remove dust that may not be visible to the naked eye. After cleaning, insert the Mi Band into the charging cable and it should start charging normally. Additionally, you can slightly scratch the golden charging pins with a scissor to remove any settled material.
4. Change Charging Method
If you have connected the charging cable to your PC or any other device, connect it to a phone charger (5V) and charge it. Also, if you are already using a phone charger, try a different one. Additionally, try charging it with a different cable if available.
5. Hit Mi Band
Mi Band users have suggested that hitting the band starts the charging process. Asians can affirm that lightly hitting gadgets such as remotes, and now even fitness bands, can solve the problem. Therefore, gently tap the Mi Band with your fingers while it’s connected to the power source.
How Long Should You Charge the Mi Band
To charge the Mi Band, you need to connect it to a power source for 2-3 hours. Once fully charged, the charge symbol will appear on the device.
How to Check Battery Percentage in Mi Band
To activate the band, tap on it. Swipe up to view the Steps. Then, swipe right to see the Battery.
Alternatively, open the Mi Fit app. Tap on Profile at the bottom. You will see the battery percentage for your Mi Band.
How to Switch on Mi Band After Charging
Mi band will automatically turn on once it has sufficient charge. You don’t have to do anything.
How to Switch off Mi Band
Mi bands do not have a button to turn them on or off. They turn off automatically when the battery is drained.
Time to Replace
If a new band fails to charge after following the above steps, replace it. If you’re unsure about your Mi Band, compare it to bands like Samsung Galaxy Fit E and Honor Band 5.
