A Complete Guide to Using Samsung Notes App Like a Pro
There is no shortage of note-taking apps on Android. However, a notes app should be special and capable of performing all tasks. One such app is the Samsung Notes app. It is a powerful app available on all Samsung phones like the Galaxy Note series, Galaxy S series, Galaxy M, and Galaxy A series. You can add text, images, voice recordings, etc. If you are new to the Samsung Notes app and wondering how to use it, you are in the right place.
Samsung’s custom UI skin, One UI, has its own apps, including Samsung Gallery, Samsung Internet Browser, Samsung Messages, and Reminders. Another app is Samsung Notes, where you can add handwritten notes and drawings. Additionally, you can add various types of notes (text, drawing, handwritten notes, images, etc.) in a single note. This guide will show you how to use the Samsung Notes app effectively.
How to Create and Edit Notes in Samsung Notes
To add a note in the Samsung Notes app, tap the orange add (+) icon at the bottom. This takes you to a blank notes screen. Start jotting down your notes using the keyboard, and you can add a title for easier identification. To save your note, tap the Save button at the top. Use the toolbar at the bottom to format your note and swipe left for additional options. The toolbar offers various customization options for your notes.
Select your text in the note and make it bold, italic, or underline it using the available options. To select text, touch and hold it. Once it turns blue, tap on B, I, or U. The text will continue to use the same formatting unless you remove it. For that, tap on the same formatting option again.
In today’s digital landscape, choosing the right words and phrases is crucial for effective communication. It is important to eliminate redundancy and simplify language to convey ideas concisely and impactfully.
When someone reads your writing, they’re looking for clear and concise information. If you’re able to provide that in a straightforward manner, then you’ll love the response you’ll get. Therefore, it’s vital to understand the importance of language efficiency and how it can elevate your content.
One of the key aspects to remember is that redundancy can be a double-edged sword. While repetition may be useful in some cases, too much of it can bore or confuse your audience. Additionally, using too many unnecessary words can dilute the meaning of your message.
Therefore, in interpreting a given text and refining it, it’s essential to take into account these factors. By following these guidelines, you can create impactful and concise content that engages your audience and communicates your message effectively.
Add Lists and Checklist to Notes
To add a to-do, bullet, or numbered list in Samsung Notes, click on the list icon in the toolbar. Type next to the list item. To remove list formatting, press Enter twice. You can also create lists from existing text by selecting the text and clicking on the desired list icon.
Change Font Size and Color
Samsung Notes app allows you to change the font size and color. You can use this feature to add headings and subheadings to your notes. To change the font size, select the text and tap on the Font icon (A with a double-sided arrow) in the toolbar and choose from Large, Very large, or default.
Similarly, select the desired font color by tapping on the Font color icon in the toolbar.
Lastly, you can align your text in the Samsung Notes app by choosing from three alignments: center, left, and right. To align text, tap the alignment icon and select the desired style.
Add Handwritten Notes
Besides typing notes with the keyboard, you can add handwritten notes using S-Pen, a stylus, or even your finger. Enable handwriting mode by tapping the icon at the top of the note in editing mode. Then, start scribbling on the note. Customize your handwritten notes using the toolbar at the bottom.
Here’s what you get in the handwriting toolbar:

Tap the pen icon to change the style, color, and size. If you frequently use certain pens, you can add them as favorites by tapping the Star icon.
Use the eraser icon to remove text by touching the area. Then, double-tap the eraser to change between eraser modes – erase by line and erase by area.
When writing or drawing, use the Selection tool to change style or position. Tap the tool to activate it. Then draw around the desired text and take action. Double-tap the tool to choose Lasso or Rectangle mode. The Lasso tool allows free selection.
Tap on the Background color icon to change the background color. Use the available buttons in the toolbar to undo or redo changes.
To draw in Samsung Notes, tap on the Drawing icon at the top to enable the screen. Start drawing on the canvas.
Tap the pen to adjust its size and opacity. Change the pen style by selecting the small arrow next to it. Choose a pen color from the palette at the top. When you’re finished with your drawing, tap “Done” at the bottom to insert it into your note.
Add Image, Voice Recording, and Audio
You can add other file types to your notes. Tap on the attachment icon at the top of a note to add images, voice recordings, and audio files.
